In Medellin, Colombia - there is a vibrant, magical festival; Medellin's Feria de las Flores. This annual festival takes place in August and radiates over the entire city. What started in 1957 as a party to honor Colombia's flower industry, has since turned into a floral extravaganza, bursting with culture, color and lively sounds. An event worth celebrating.
A 10-day spectacle of parties, live music concerts, antique car parades, orchid competitions and more.
We highly recommend adding it to your Colombian bucket list.
The prime source of these Colombian flowers is the area around Medellin – a benefit that comes with a climate that has given Medellin the nickname of the City of Eternal Spring.
The Sights:
Beaming with all types of fresh flower displays arranged in all colors of the rainbow - including the Pride flag, as well as messages everywhere expressing love and support for many communities.
Truly, the main way the flowers are displayed during this beautiful festival is on "Silletas". These wooden contraptions are typically used during flower harvesting - stapped on the backs of the workers. Flower growers and workers often had to carry their masters up steep hills.
The Silletas are now used to make jaw-dropping floral displays and floral arrangements that are judged in the competition that is the peak of this flower festival Colombia.

Experience the scent of every corner, from fresh Daisies, Roses, Peonies to the vendors selling trademark Colombian Coffee, freshly roasted and delicious food such as deep fried Arepas (deep-fried sweet cornmeal dough), Churros, Empanadas plus so much more!
The Sounds:
Each year there is a huge music concert called Metro Concierto de Conciertos, usually on the last Saturday of the festival. It features some of the most famous Latino international pop acts in the world, and as such, attracts a very large crowd. In the past, the likes of Wisin, Daddy Yankee, Nicky Jam and Marc Anthony have performed here.
